Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player won his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

His defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional championship, took control to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
